Apostles Series
Art by Josh Heath
The Apostles series is a set of 13 paintings in a self conceived and coined “Voxelism” style that overlaps multiple layers of portraits in different settings, time periods, angles and emotions. Each layer is photographed before moving on to the next and finally re-integrating all layers together in one whole. All paintings are Oil on canvas.

The word apostle originates from the Greek word apostolos, meaning messenger. Subsequent meanings of apostle have been that of supporter, student or even friend. Some have even considered Jesus himself to be an apostle as he carried the message of God. What did it feel like for Jesus as he began to form his apostles? His group of confidants, supporters and friends who believed in him, loved him and protected him. What was the benefit of having this close group by his side as he spread his message? Perhaps their love served as a reminder of the God energy within during hard times.

What does it mean to form your own personal group of apostles? A support group that loves you, believes in you, feeds your soul, connecting you deeper to awareness with in each moment.  A group of loved ones that can inspire you through example, create growth through conflict, or simply hold space for you to be true to self.  For all they bring to your life you feel changed, enhanced by their presence. They create a safe space for you to dream and desire and through sharing in this safe space Universe aligns to provide.

The Apostles series is an exploration of that special group within my life that helped me to find the I AM, source, God energy, or Jesus within. Each portrait is an observation of each apostle in multiple moments and emotions. Compiling various views of physical form in an effort to see past the physical and into the being, the source energy within all of us.
